Altitude sickness
Altitude sickness is still a mystery to many. To be honest, you will never know when altitude sickness can hit you. Altitude sickness can get you irrespective of your fitness level, age, or gender.
If you do get altitude sickness, descend as soon as possible. You would want your friends or guide to know about your situation. Catch your breath once you reach the friendly altitude, and start ascending if you can. Make sure you take a rest every few minutes.
You can buy the medicine Diamox for altitude sickness. But I suggest you visit your doctor beforehand and know your body better.

- Stay hydrated and stay healthy. Always drink enough water, as you will get dehydrated faster while trekking.
- Do not overpack your bags. Pack all the important stuff, but you should never pack carelessly.
- Choose the best time to visit, and you will have the best time.
- Visit your doctor before trekking. This way you will know what is best for you, and which medicine works well for you.
- Maintain hygiene. You are less likely to take a shower at the higher altitudes. Make sure you pack wet wipes to cleanse your body.
- Try the local foods, they are the best.
- Get comfy with your trekking shoes beforehand. I would recommend using your new trekking shoes on a regular basis for a few days before your trekking. You can avoid this if your shoes are not new.
