Short Gosainkunda Lake Trek Itinerary
SHORT GOSAIKUNDA LAKE TREK
This 6 day spectacular Short Gosainkunda Lake Trek encompasses you through some of the relatively pristine vicinity of Nepal. Situated at an altitude of 4,380m above sea level, trek to Gosainkunda Lake bestows both natural and religious delights. The trek initiates with 8 hours’ drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche where we will initiate our trek towards Sing Gompa (3,580m). This region is quite influenced by the Tibetan culture as the vicinity shares its border with China. From Sing Gompa, we will continue our trek to Gosainkunda Lake (4,380m) where we can also explore the holy Hindu temples including Shiva Mandir, Gosainkunda Mahadev, and Trishul Dhara. The holy vicinity of Gosainkunda has several glacial lakes inclusive of Nilkantha Lake, Surya Lake, and Bhairab Lake. After exploration of Gosainkunda Lakes, we will descend back to Dhunche via Sing Gompa and ride back to Kathmandu valley. The highlights of the trek are spectacular views of mountain ranges including Langtang, Annapurna range and Ganesh Himal alongside the exploration of holy lakes of Gosainkunda, the witness of Tibetan culture, alluring landscapes and scenic trails.
We set off for the day with a drive from Kathmandu. It is 7-8 hours long drive north-west from Kathmandu to the destination of Dhunche which is approximately 43.5 km.
The second day of this trip includes trek from Dhunche to Sing Gompa which can take anywhere between 5 to 6 hours walk to complete the 7.0 km long trek for the day. Walking through pine and rhododendron forests, this trek is full of scenic beauty.
The third day consists of hiking for 5 to 6 hours for about 8.8km from Sing Gompa to Gosainkunda Holy Hindu temples like Shiva Mandir, Gosainkunda Mahadev, and Trishul Dhara can be explored in around this destination. The sacred area of Gosainkunda Lake has other glacial lakes including Bhairab Lake, Nilkantha Lake, Surya Lake and many more.
This day of outing calls for a trek from Gosainkunda to Sing Gompa. It is 5 to 6 hours walk at an altitude of 3,580 meters. We pass through Lauribinayak looking at the magnificent view of soaring mountains and vibrant hills.
On this day of the short Gosainkunda Lake Trekking, encompasses 5 to 6 hours walk from Sing Gompa to Dhunche at an altitude of 1,764 meters. You can explore Dhunche heliport and Kapan Monastery around the location.
The very last day of this short trek, Day 6, comprises of 7 to 8 hours’ drive at 1,400 meters altitude from Dhunche to Kathmandu. This drive marks the end of the adventurous short Gosainkunda Lake trekking.
