They are as follows:

Local Bus

Local buses are the most common means of transportation in the country. It is relatively cheaper but crowded with people. However, it is a unique experience altogether. You can find the local route buses running from Machhapokhari in Kathmandu.

The buses leave for Syabrubesi early in the morning at around 7 AM to 9 AM. you have to arrive early to get the best seats or any seats at all. People also travel by standing or sitting on top of the buses.

How to reach Langtang from Kathmandu

Your actual trekking journey starts from Syabrubesi. You will trek from Syabrubesi to Langtang Valley after passing through the various village settlements. Read further to know more about the route details:

Syabrubesi - Lama Hotel

The trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel is around 11 km long and takes approximately 6 to 7 hours to complete. You will gently ascend the trail alongside the Bhote Koshi River. The forested trails pass through the Rhododendron and Oak trees till you arrive at the settlement of Bamboo.

You will then descend gradually and cross the Langtang Khola via a small wooden bridge. We ascend the trail to arrive at the Lama Hotel. You can observe the beautiful views of the snow-capped mountains from the Lama Hotel (2480 m). You will stay overnight at Lama Hotel.

Lama Hotel - Langtang Valley

The trek from Lama Hotel and Langtang Valley takes around 5 to 6 hours to complete. The early trek first ascends towards the stunning Ghora Tabela. The 15 km passes through the forested trails of pines and birches trees.

You will stop to rest and have lunch at the Ghora Tabela. The trail then takes a steep climb towards a village and then arrives at the Langtang Valley (3540 m). It is a beautiful valley with incredible mountain landscapes. You will stay overnight in the village.

Langtang Valley - Kyanjin Gompa

The trek from Langtang Valley to Kyanjin Gompa takes around 3 to 4 hours to complete. This 7 km trek starts with a gentle climb before crossing a water stream through a makeshift wooden bridge. You will then pass through the forested trail and observe the rare flora and fauna of the region.

Return Trek

The trek from Rimiche to Syabrubesi takes around 3 to 4 hours. You will then take a scenic drive back to Kathmandu.

Starting from Sundarijal (1463m)

How to reach Langtang from Kathmandu

Sundarijal is another starting point to reach Langtang from Kathmandu. It is an alternative starting point located in the Gokarneshwor Municipality in Kathmandu. You can enter the Langtang region via the pristine Shivapuri National Park. The beautiful village is only 15 km away from Kathmandu. The drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal (1463m) takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Mode of Transportation

To travel till Sundarijal, you can use either a local bus or private vehicle. It is a short distance drive from Kathmandu.

Local Bus

Local buses run from the Old Bus Park (near Ratnapark) to Sundarijal. It takes around an hour to arrive at the destination after making various stops in the middle. The trek from Gul Bhanjayang to Tharepati takes around 5 to 6 hours. After a trek of a few hours, we arrive at Kutumsang from where we can observe the breathtaking view of the snow-capped mountains.

Moreover, the trail then takes us uphill on a forested trail observing the rare flora and fauna before arriving at Tharepati. Tharepati (3640m) is a beautiful village settlement. You will stay overnight at a lodge in Tharepati.

Tharepati - Gopte

The trek from Tharepati to Gopte takes around 5 to 6 hours. The harsh trails move uphill and downhill a lot before arriving at Gopte. Gradual walking with regular hydration will help you a lot during the trek. Gopte (3440m) is a scenic settlement with majestic views of the mountains. You will stay overnight at a teahouse in the village.

Gopte - Gosaikunda

The trek from Gopte to Gosaikunda is a prime attraction of the trek. It takes around 6 to 7 hours to complete the trek from Gopte to Gosaikunda. We walk through the forested trail covered in pines and oaks trees. You will arrive at the settlement of Phedi, before climbing uphill through rough moraines.

On the journey, you will pass through small water streams before arriving at the Gosaikunda (4460m). The sacred Gosaikunda lake welcomes hundreds of Hindu pilgrims all round the year. We will continue our journey to Lauribinayak passing through the pristine lakes of Saraswati Kunda and Bhairav Kunda. After a trek of a few hours, we arrive at Lauribinayak (3920m) where we stay overnight at a teahouse.

Lauribinayak - Shin Gompa

The trek from Lauribinayak to Shin Gompa takes around 5 hours. We pass through the beautiful forested trail spotting the rare wildlife of the region including Red Pandas. You can also observe the breathtaking Langtang Lirung from the viewpoint.

After a trek of a few hours, we arrive at Shin Gompa (3330m). You can also visit the local cheese factory during our visit and stay overnight at a teahouse in Shin Gompa.

Shin Gompa - Thulo Syabru

The trek from Shin Gompa to Thulo Syabru takes around 5 to 6 hours. The forested trails pass through the Rhododendron, and Oak trees. Besides that, the beautiful views of the snow-capped mountains, including Mt. Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, and others will enchant you. You will arrive at Thulo Syabru (2000m) after a trek of a few hours and stay overnight at a local teahouse.

Thulo Syabru - Lama Hotel

The trek from Thulo Syabru to Lama Hotel takes you around 5 hours. The trails are mostly up and down along a rough terrain passing through the scenic Tamang villages.

After arriving at our destination of Langtang, we retraced our steps back to Lama hotel. We will then trek to Syabrubesi the next day. Finally, you will arrive at the capital city of Kathmandu through a scenic drive along with the winding hilly landscapes.
